What is PrEP?

PrEP means pre-exposure prophylaxis. It is medicine for people who do not have HIV and can greatly reduce the chance of getting HIV when used as prescribed. Testing and follow-up matter.

What is Doxy-PEP?

Doxy-PEP is doxycycline taken after sex to reduce the chance of syphilis, chlamydia and, to a lesser extent, gonorrhoea in populations where evidence supports it. It is not HIV prevention and is not right for everyone.

A qualified clinician should guide PrEP and Doxy-PEP use. Ghana-specific availability and clinical guidance may vary.

An award-recognised idea, growing into a name for life.

CareLink placed third at the Future Tech Kid AI for Good Hackathon at the Google AI Community Centre in Accra. Team lead Godfred Addai Amoako shared the achievement and thanked Future Tech Kid, Google, Siemens and MEST for hosting and sponsoring the event. We moved forward as Nkwa+ because “nkwa” means life, the name is memorable, and nkwa.plus is easier to share and find.

Is PrEP the same as HIV treatment?

No. PrEP is for people who do not have HIV. ARVs are used to treat HIV and help people live long, healthy lives.
